Port of Gdańsk – 24/7 monitoring of petroleum-based pollution
Challenge:
Port Gdańsk, as one of the largest ports in the Baltic Sea, faces the challenge of protecting its waters from oil-based pollutants originating from both cargo operations and vessel malfunctions. Previously, visual monitoring was used, which did not enable quick detection and response to contamination incidents.
Solution:
In 2024, an innovative environmental monitoring system was deployed, prominently featuring specialized equipment from Mobile Monitoring. This system covers three strategic locations: Timber Station, Grain Quay, and the vicinity of the Free Customs Zone. Mobile Monitoring devices, operating 24/7, comprise a base station and sensors that continuously analyze hydrocarbon content in water. Data is transmitted in real-time to the analytical system.
Outcomes:
Immediate detection of oil-based pollutants and rapid response from port authorities.
Compliance with international environmental standards and national regulations.
Enhanced environmental safety and increased appeal of the port for operators and tourists.
Online monitoring available, ensuring transparency of port activities.
